Can you help the 9th Bracknell Scout Group

With around 130 young members ( 6 to 14 years ) plus around 20 adult leaders and supporters meeting on Monday to Friday's every week ( term time ), two regular youth groups meeting on two days a week, our adult meetings as well as others from around the district, many private bookings from children's birthday parties, private functions and other groups from around the area using our HQ for evenings, days and weekends.

It comes as no surprise that the building we all use is now not quite adequate for our needs.

We have a store room that is overflowing with equipment as we have nowhere else to store our section equipment, camping equipment, tables, chairs and other supporting equipment, a meeting / quiet room that we can no longer use for it's intended purpose as it's now used as a secondary store.

We are looking to extend our building to add a store room on the rear of the premises ( annexe ) and are in the process of obtaining planning permission ( although this is proving to be very slow ) for this, the planned extension ( annexe ) would add a 4.8 meter store room onto the rear of our building.

This would enable us to look after all of our equipment in a much safer and better way, we would have the room to dry our tents after a wet camp, where at the moment we have to hang the tents in our hall between meetings etc until they are dry enough to put away.

We have been approached by our District Scout Council to set up and run a new section for the 14 to 18 year olds, but at this time we are full to capacity and taking on any new ventures is really out of the question, there is a real possibility that we might be forced into reducing our activities due to our resources and having seen quite a few Scout Groups in the area fail it might just come down to survival in the end.

Our extension will cost very close to £25000

We have raised around £10,000 of this through our fundraising efforts.
