Birch Hill & Hanworth Liaison Group have been meeting for about 7 years now. We have been worked actively with the police, local shop managers and residents to bring the anti social behaviour we experienced some time ago under control.
We carry out litter picks on the first Saturday of each uneven numbered month starting at 0930 and finishing at around 1130. It is always satisfying and we usually have some fun too. We have found some really strange things – toilet seats, carpets, bikes, traffic cones. We often clear the back lake at South Hill Park when I get to paddle in my wellies and take my spring rake so I can play in the water.
The group meets approximately one hour every 8 weeks, so nothing too heavy. We just try to support our local groups, housing, police, schools, Community Centre. Scout Group (9th Bracknell) are supportive and often join litter picks etc.
If you would like to get involved then be sure you will get a welcome. No need to feel you have to attend every meeting or event – just do what you can do.
