Birch Hill & Hanworth Neighbourhood Action Group (N.A.G.)
Bracknell Forest Borough Council and Thames Valley Police are working together with other community partners to develop and improve the ways they work with local communities. The work includes setting up Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs) in the 14 areas covering the borough of Bracknell Forest.
The NAG is a volunteer working group playing a key role looking at the concerns of local people. They plan and organise work and activities to address these concerns, feeding information back to the Council's service departments, the police and other partner organisations.
The aim of a NAG is to be representative of its community and includes representatives from the police, the council, residents' groups, community groups, schools etc.
Members of the Birch Hill & Hanworth NAG include Neighbouhood Specialist Officer PC Michael Foot and two Police Community Support Officers, residents and representatives of local businesses and shops, a school caretaker, a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, the Birch Hill & Hanworth Community Liaison Group and the 9th Bracknell Scouts.
The Birch Hill & Hanworth NAG meets every two months to discuss work being carried out to deal with the “priority” issues raised by residents and any other issue that may currently be of concern.
The “Priority Issues” set for 2008 by the Birch Hill & Hanworth neighbourhood are:
- Speeding on Ringmead
- Parking
- Littering
In addition to the regular NAG meetings, a Neighbourhood Forum is held once a year in the autumn. This is a public meeting where local residents can bring along any concern they may have about their neighbourhood.
The next Neighbourhood Forum will be on Wednesday 22 October 2008 at 7.30pm in Birch Hill Primary School.
If you would like to speak to someone about an issue of concern to you or you would like to join your local NAG, contact Jo Legg (Chair, Birch Hill & Hanworth NAG) on 01344-648 775.
